My name is Mairim. I was diagnosed November 7, 2014. I felt nauseous and had pain in my stomach. As the night progressed I told my mom I couldn't breath. I was immediately taken to the hospital. There they checked my blood sugar and it was at 700; over the next 3 days they lowered my blood sugar. Learning to manage my diabetes was not the easiest thing. The support of my family was amazing they always helped me out. As my first year comes up I feel I am now better at controlling my blood sugar. I learned that I control my diabetes, it doesn't control me.
